Why Make a Homemade Cake for Your Dog?
Industrial products may contain additives, sugars, or ingredients unsuitable for dogs. By making a homemade cake, you're guaranteed a recipe that's:
- 100% natural,
- No added sugar,
- Adapted to your dog's tastes and digestion,
- And above all: it’s a moment of complicity and joy to share with him
🎉 Ingredients:
- 1 very ripe banana,
- 1 blended apple or 60 ml of unsweetened applesauce,
- 1 egg,
- 2 tablespoons of honey (optional, for non-diabetic dogs),
- 100 g of rice flour or mixed oat flakes,
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder or bicarbonate (more natural),
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or rapeseed oil,
🧁 For the frosting (optional but adorable):
- 2 tablespoons of unsweetened plain yogurt,
- 1 teaspoon of peanut butter or honey,
- Some decorative treats from our shop 🐶
🥣 Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan-assisted).
- In a bowl, mash the banana with a fork and the apple into a puree. Add the egg and oil. Mix until smooth.
- Add the flour and baking powder (or bicarbonate). Stir well.
- Pour the batter into a small greased or lined cake tin (bone or heart shaped for extra fun!).
- Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes. Check for doneness with the tip of a knife.
- Allow to cool completely before unmolding.
🍰 Finishing:
Mix the yogurt with peanut butter or honey and spread this frosting over the cooled cake. Add some of our treats for an even more festive touch. You can add a small amount of food coloring to color your frosting.
❤️ Tips:
- This cake is a treat, not a complete meal: serve it in small slices.
- Store in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days or freeze portions.
- Adapt the recipe if your dog has food allergies or intolerances.
- You can replace the fruit with vegetables and/or meat or fish, but be careful to remove the seeds, bones and pin bones!
🎈 And there you have it! A great way to say "I love you" to your dog while respecting their nutritional needs.
